Privacy policy
The short version: your IP is used to answer your request and then discarded. Nothing about you is sold, and nothing loads before you say yes to it.
This page describes how the service actually works, in plain language. It isn't legal advice, and if you need it reviewed for compliance in a specific jurisdiction, have a lawyer check it.
Your IP isn't logged
Not in a database, not in a log file, not "for 30 days". When a cache key or a rate-limit counter needs to reference your address, it uses a salted one-way hash that expires within an hour, so the original address can't be recovered from it even if that cache were read.
What stays on your device
Ghost Mode's XP, badges and streaks, your theme and vibe, your consent choice, and your accessibility preferences all live in your browser's local storage only. None of it reaches our servers, and clearing your browser's site data resets all of it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, and only after you choose "Allow analytics" in the consent banner. No analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set before that — the code is gated on your choice, not just told to behave. Change your mind any time from Privacy choices in the footer.
Third-party lookups
A few narrow, specific calls leave your browser or our server to answer a request: location and network data (currently served by ipwhois.io), blacklist checks against public DNSBL services, and breach checks. Passwords are never sent anywhere — only the first 5 characters of a SHA-1 hash reach Have I Been Pwned's k-anonymity endpoint, so your real password never leaves your device. An email breach check sends the address you type to Have I Been Pwned's API.
Your rights
Because we don't keep a database of visitor IPs or personal data, there's usually nothing beyond what's already on your own device to export or delete. If you think we hold something about you that isn't described here, contact us and we'll look into it.
Children
My IP Address isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how we handle it changes, this page changes with it, with an updated date at the top.
Affiliate disclosure
My IP Address has no affiliate links yet. When it does, every page that has one will say so clearly.
